Drinkability...

My first assignment for the semester was in my Graphic Design II class. We were studying the Victorian era and were assigned to design packaging for a 6-pack with this era's style applied in the design. No fancy packaging just your average 6-pack bottle design. Than present a product shot to the class. So just a jpg. was what the teacher was asking for, awesome! So some shortcuts popped in the mind. Things you can't see, like the other side of the packaging still reading... Coors or Bud Light.... haha Gotta Love Shortcuts! So here is my resulting packaging for the fictitious Magic City Brewery in Minot, North Dakota. I was pretty pleased with it if I don't say so myself. But than that's just me :)

Checking in...

Wow it's nearly the 3rd Month in 2009 and I have yet to post one new thing. As if I don't have anything happening in my life to blog about... With the new semester I've been doing many new things that are good bloggable items to tell about. For they've been new developments for myself and I find them interesting to others as well. So here's my goal... to start blogging frequently and keeping it up to date with my new developments... good or bad. So wish me luck :) #1 to follow!

Finals...

Well Morgan don't sweat it, for you’re not the only one who totally pasted this assignment's due date.
But yeah finals week, that's what's on everyone's minds this time of year. A mix of emotions, excited for it means Christmas break is soon approaching, but shitty for all the work and tests that are rounding the corner everyday. Which lately as I'm sure you can see from this posting, deadlines are not my friend as of right now. I have officially well soon to have finished my very first online class. I can officially say now that I HATE THEM. The deadlines are always changing and when dealing with a procrastinator like myself you can't do that for then I do leave the work till the last minute thinking well he'll move it back more, so I really have 2 more days until it's due. Grr and than the dates that I focus one are ok while the one laying low not changing but not keeping my attention passes by. Yes I'm in a dilemma.... now waiting on a little reply e-mail which will break me or pass me haha. Grrr I'm so ready to be done, but yet am not quite half way through. Wish me luck, for the way things are heading today I'm going to need it :) And to you who have the time to take to read this good luck with whatever finals... or more so final holiday doings you have to finish yet! And I wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a safe and Happy New Year!

Facebook = just fun creeping or... Professionalism?

that is the question... Technology is totally changing the ways of everyday things. Here's the timeline of events that I've taken part with and can recall. 1st e-mail, you sent messages to one another from home just so you were keeping up with every one's happenings, than came messengers. E-mail that was so much faster, you got it reply and it's a non stop back and forth process that you can do with numerous people, or even with however many in one window! yay! Everyone was on them until the wee hours of the night or until you parents were screaming at you to get to bed, because they were tired of hearing the click, click, click of the key board as they tried to sleep.
Than came profile pages and than the leaving quick messages to your friends just so they know you're thinking of them, blogs and other posts for you to let everyone know what you are doing or to promote an exciting event in you life. And now there's message boards along with messenger and these messages not only being posted on the "wall" but than being forwarded to our cell phones, pagers, and whatever else now a days! I can't even keep up!!!!!
But getting down to our initial question.... Facebook. A once college bound or more so University bound site, that opened up to all college students, than high schoolers, than to anyone who can access an e-mail address. So now open to the entire public, nation, world? Our question is should we use this program/interface to promote our work/company. WHY NOT! can you think of any other faster, easier, cheaper way to advertise? Facebook is FREE, what you put out for the public to see is totally under your control. How you title your Facebook, the groups you make or join help your image. Sometimes I feel, if I don't keep up with this new fad or technology world that seems to be adored by so many, I will be lost in the dust. I already get that feeling at times, like having Scott Wild speak to you of all that he has researched and has done for himself with in the blogs and posts and etc etc... the list goes on and on and is yet even growing longer today! You got to start somewhere, and I feel Facebook is just one of the many little programs to get your feet wet, try it out see what difference it could make on you and your sales or whatever you're trying to get out to the people. It's all about the NETWORKING people. Facebook is just a HUGE web of networking, it shows you right on there how you're connected to another through (whom ever). But you'll never totally understand the words I've typed out until you try it! Yeah it might all sound just dandy and bla bla, but until you see the actual connections and quickness of finding the who you know and not what you know kind of experience, you will never totally understand the excitement of the modern day technologies that are building and free for us today, but once the trends are static it makes me wonder if one day we'll start having to pay for these great convinces. So test all them out now and see what it is that you like about them and which one will be the one to help you succeed with your work and business.
Facebook, some use it for their daily creeping, but if you really think into it you can do soooo much to promote yourself in a professional and profitable way. It's just awesome!

Oh politics...

So we are just a few weeks past the 2008 presidential election. With Barack Obama leading at the nights end as the new President of the USA, we now have time to look back and reflect on the happenings.
This year is a historical election all round. Not only with the different racial and gender candidates in running, but also with the amount of interest that the American people had in this campaign weighed against those years past. Especially the youth of America and the amount of point of views share and their interest of (then) coming election.
One question that arises now is how and why was this the case, and what were some of Obama's tactics and doings that were very appealing toward this generation. As statistics show on Gallup website the younger voting population did vote Obama. Was it his very modern designs like on his web site Barack Obama, or the facts of him using many different modern technologies to reach out to the people that grasped the youth of the nation more so than that of our elders.... or possible just the cold hard fact of the fact of the racial difference of the two final candidates that were in the public eye 11.4.08. Once again looking at the statistics on Gallup the older ages were defiantly more prone to vote McCain, is it because of their growing up? The world was not as diverse for them as it is today. The youth of today isn't seen as racial as the older generation.
So these are the two main issues I see that made this a very unusual election compared to the earlier ones, but to say my one sided opinion on what made it so.... I'm torn between these two subjects. 1. The great use of technology that Obama used which defiantly reached the youth of the nation more so. or 2. Just the truth of the matter that we're now seeing results of the way people were raised between the age group of elders who grew up or were younger during the times of segregation etc. and the youth who now have grown up with a much more diverse society and so it's not such a big deal as it once was. They both seem very much feasible in my eyes.

Here are some graphics I've been working on for my boyfriends construction business that's in the making. Any graphical feed back or ideas would be greatly appreciated!
